black-owned business posts

During the summer of 2022, I was part of the Portland Internship Experience where I worked for Simple X, a company with the goal of “bridging the gap between Black professionals and the workplace,” As a social media operations intern, some of my tasks including editing videos, writing captions and creating graphics to be shared to platforms such as Instagram and LinkedIn. Connecting the Black community in Portland was the objective for these posts and my strategy involved telling the stories of people in the area so they could see themselves in other Black Portlanders.

oregon softball team posts

As a member of the Allen Hall Public Relations firm, my work for our client, Oregon Softball involves showing a behind-the-scenes look at the team. One of the projects I completed was a holiday bake-off video that I filmed and edited to be posted on the Oregon Softball Instagram story. This project gives fans and potential recruits the opportunity to look into what the dynamics are like with the players and coaches as well as what it is like being a student-athlete at the University of Oregon.

writing

donor appeal letter

In my J452 Strategic Communications course, we were tasked with writing a sample donor appeal letter. I chose the non-profit Kidsports in Eugene, Oregon because of how their work had impacted the community I was a part of.

news release

In my J352 Strategic Writing course, our final assignment was to write a news release sample for an event in the area. I chose to write about a holiday event in my hometown of Tualatin, Oregon because I have participated in these events before and wanted to write about it through a strategic lens.

brand action as statement team project deck

In my J342 Creative Strategist course, my classmates and I were placed into groups and had to choose a brand that has a role to play in supporting women’s reproductive rights and create a campaign for the brand to address the subject. We chose the brand Cards Against Humanity and in my role as the media planner, I identified the target audiences and best ways to reach our chosen group of college-aged individuals.

media

My J211 Gateway to Media course integrated critical thinking, creative thinking, and basic skills for nonfiction storytelling through video, words, photos, and audio. The goals for this project were to interview a compelling story subject, gain experience working in Adobe Premiere, shoot and sequence quality B-roll and create a tight, interesting story with a clear and logical flow. I interviewed Karli Schmutz, a University of Oregon student and horseback rider on what her transition to moving to a new state with her horse was like.
